What is sciatica?
What are the best treatments for sciatic nerve pain in Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach?
If you have sciatic nerve pain in your low back or pain traveling down your leg, you are not alone. Many residents of our community in from Port Orange to Edgewater come to our office looking for answers to their pain. We see sciatic pain patients on a regular basis.
The sciatic nerve runs from your lower back area and travels all the way down the leg to the foot. When this nerve is pinched it can cause severe pain, numbness, tingling, burning, or discomfort all the way down the leg.
The sciatic nerve can be pinched because the muscles around the nerve have tightened (due to lack of stretching or poor posture often). When the nerve is pinched it will be painful! Sciatica can also be caused by the nerve in your low back being pinched from spinal arthritis or osteoarthritis. The low back nerves can also be pinched because of disc degeneration. Your treatment for sciatic pain will largely depend on where the sciatic nerve is being pinched.
There are several treatment options including physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, trigger point injections, myofascial release, laser therapy, and massage therapy. It is important that you are diagnosed by a capable doctor or medical provider so the right treatment plan will be recommended.
