3 Crucial Questions You Must Ask Before You Hire a Doctor (after an accident) 7/19/2016

I'm sharing with you today 3 questions you need to ask your doctor after you have been in a car accident. Very very important questions, that if you don't ask, may cause a lot more frustrations and literal headaches, as well as figurative headaches.

1. Number one, "does the doctor have the proper training to deal with a patient that has been involved in a car accident?"

There is more extensive training than what most doctors are taught in medical school or chiropractic school. In our office, have seen multiple cases this week of a patient that's been to another doctor that didn't order an MRI. We found out later that the patient had herniated discs after reading the MRI. Or a patient that had ligament laxity (medical term for whiplash) that wasn't found until they came into our office. That's the difference between proper training and not having the right training.

2. Number two question you should ask, "Does the doctor have a good referral network with other doctors?"

Does the doctor work with other orthopedic doctors, neurologists, and specialists? Very rarely can you visit an office that will be able to offer you ALL of the services that you need for treatment. The doctor needs to have a good network of referral doctors that will accept auto accident cases or personal injury type cases.

3. The third question you should ask is "Do they work with an attorney?" A lot of doctors offices don't work with attorneys. This can be a huge hindrance to you if you are involved in any sort of litigation. Is that doctor willing to do a testimony in court, to share a deposition, basically go to bat for the patient? Especially if the patient has been legitimately injured and is not able to pay healthcare bills.

Dr. Steflik is experienced in giving depositions. "It's something that we enjoy doing especially if it helps the patient get the care that they need. A deposition is an opportunity to show true findings and injuries a patient has sustained in an accident."
